Covidien Kendall Sofsilk Silk Sutures are non-absorbable, sterile, surgical sutures. They are made from natural proteinaceous silk fibers called fibroin.

These braided sutures are available coated evenly with either silicone or a special wax mixture. This helps reduce capillarity and increase surface lubricity, which enhances handling characteristics, ease of passage through tissue, and knot run-down properties.

Sofsilk sutures are used in general soft tissue approximation and or ligation, including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic, microsurgery, and neurological surgery. The plastic suture reels are manufactured with a material molded into the plastic to allow location within the body by X-ray.

The needle on this suture is a premium reverse cutting needle. This needle is a plastic specialty reconstructive surgery reverse cutting needle. It is used for reconstructive surgery procedures that involve muscle, tendons, cartilage, fascia and skin. The needle features a reverse cutting edge for deep tissue cutting and dissection.
