Novafil sutures are non-absorbable surgical sutures composed of polybutester, a copolymer of butylene terephthalate and polytetramethylene ether glycol.

The polybutesters elasticity and static creep resistance allows the suture to elongate under load or tension like when there is wound edema, and to return to normal form when the edema goes down. The polybutester hydrophobicity prevents the sutures from absorbing water or from being affected by hydrolysis. The suture is less likely to stick to tissue during re-operative procedures.

The needle on this suture is a premium reverse cutting needle. This needle is a plastic specialty reconstructive surgery reverse cutting needle. It is used for reconstructive surgery procedures that involve muscle, tendons, cartilage, fascia and skin. The needle features a reverse cutting edge for deep tissue cutting and dissection. Size 3-0, Blue, 18", Needle P-14, 3/8 Circle, 12 Sutures per box.
