The barrier has built in convexity which adds security and skin protection for recessed, retracted and flush stomas.Tape borders provide additional security to the attachment of the one-piece pouch or two-piece skin barrier to the skin.
This barrier protects the skin from corrosive drainage. The barrier is cut-to-fit allowing the user to cut the skin barrier opening to the size and shape of the stoma. A floating flange eliminates pressure on tender postoperative abdomens and allows fingers to be put under the flange for support while attaching the pouch to the barrier.
