In the event of a sudden cardiac arrest every second matters, where a 4- to 5-minute delay decreases chances of survival by almost 40 percent. With the Philips HeartStart OnSite Defibrillator, you don’t need to have medical training or prior experience in using a defibrillator to help the victim survive. This AED provides clear, step-by-step voice instructions and automatic assessment of the proper therapy for the patient, empowering any inexperienced bystanders to safely perform resuscitation until medical help arrives. It is so safe to use that it is the first and only AED that can be purchased “over the counter” without a prescription.

Step-By-Step Audio Guidance: With Life Guidance, the HeartStart OnSite AED provides clear and calm voice instructions that will clearly guide you through every step of the resuscitation process – from placing the pads to delivering a defibrillation shock. It will also coach you with the right frequency and depth of chest compressions when performing CPR. To help you proceed quickly but calmly, the HeartSmart OnSite uses Smart Pads which can sense when they have been removed from the cartridge and placed on the patient. This tells the AED where you are in the response process so it can deliver instructions tailored to the responder’s actions. The adaptive instructions will keep you from feeling rushed or overwhelmed so that you can feel in control of the situation. The Smart Pads included are for patients aged 8 and above and those weighing a minimum of 25 kg.
Advanced Life-Saving Technology: the Philips HeartStart OnSite Defibrillator uses the Smart Analysis feature to automatically assess the patient’s heart rhythm. If it detects a non-shockable rhythm, it will not provide a shock – even if the Shock button is pressed. With this feature, you will not have to worry about shocking someone unnecessarily. If a shock is not needed, it will prompt you to perform CPR instead. With the patented Quick Shock technology, this AED also minimizes the shock delivery time after CPR to as little as 8 seconds – among the fastest in its class – to further improve patient survival. The defibrillator delivers the right amount of current and energy using the Smart Biphasic Impedance Compensation technology, the first biphasic therapy classified as “standard of care” and “intervention of choice” by the American Heart Association.
Ready to Use Anytime: The HeartStart OnSite is available in Ready-Pack which comes with pre-installed Smart Pads and battery so that it’s ready to use right out of the box. To use the AED, all you need to do is pull the green tab. This will launch the initial self-test, and the AED will start providing audio instructions afterward. The defibrillator is programmed to automatically run 85 self-tests not just monthly or weekly but daily. Even the pads are regularly tested. The battery has a capacity of 200 shocks and a stand-by life of four years. To inform you of the battery status, a battery indicator on the outside of the case will flash green if the AED is ready and red if there is an issue with the battery.
Easily Converts into Training AED: This AED can be turned into a temporary training unit by simply installing the special training Smart Pads cartridge (sold separately). These pads are available in adult and infant/child variations. Once the pads are installed, the defibrillator’s ability to shock is disabled, and you will be able to run various patient care scenarios. No need to buy an additional training unit – simply connect the training pads to your OnSite Defibrillator and go!
Other Features: The HeartSmart OnSite AED stores the whole incident’s event log including the first 15 minutes of ECG and allows wireless transmission of the event data to a PC or Smartphone via an infrared port. If an EMS responder arrives on the scene and needs a summary of the events, they can simply press the “i-button” of OnSite, and it will verbally recount the events from its last use. The unit has a solid, drip-proof exterior and withstands one-meter drop, meeting the highest quality and safety standards.
More than 350,000 sudden cardiac arrests happen outside the hospital in the U.S. each year, with most cases occurring at home or work. The Philips HeartStart OnSite Defibrillator has a real impact in the real world by helping ordinary people lead the way in resuscitating cardiac-event victims. By delivering shocks with the right intensity at the right time, the HeartStart OnSite AED “starts” hearts and gets them pumping again. This life-saving device could save the life of a coworker, family member, customers, and even your own.
