Overview for Welch Allyn 101447 CardioPerfect Workstation Bundle with ECG, Spirometry and Ambulatory BP Option

Please note: laptop pictured is for illustrative purposes only and is not included. See below for system requirements.

Welch Allyn's CardioPerfect Workstation Bundle with ECG, Spirometry and Ambulatory BP Option features innovative analytical software as well as several complete crucial modules for total cardiopulmonary testing. It includes PC-based resting ECG and spirometry modules and is fully upgradeable and modular; additional modules such as stress ECG, ambulatory blood pressure monitors, and Holter systems may be added at any time, as they utilize the same software.

The CardioPerfect Workstation Bundle with ECG, Spirometry and Ambulatory BP Option turns any PC into a full-featured ECG and spirometer with the added benefits of analytical software. The CardioPerfect® Workstation Software manages data from all of Welch Allyn's cardiopulmonary equipment in the same way for storage of all patient information in the same record. This makes retrieval and analysis of the information quick and easy, allowing clinicians and their staff to interact more efficiently with patients.

The software allows users to easily monitor trends and changes in patient history and retrieve previous records with the touch of a key; no more digging through paper files looking for the right information. It overlays ECG measurements with previous ECGs, making it incredibly simple to spot differences and eliminating the need for repeat ECGs. This improves the speed and accuracy of specific condition management, such as intermittent arrhythmias, for every patient. Users may copy and paste ECG and spirometry reports directly into Microsoft® Word for additional saving, sharing, clarity, and viewing. Unlimited protocols allow you to program measurement periods and inflation frequencies to meet any study needs.

EHR connectivity

CardioPerfect Workstation Bundle with ECG, Spirometry and Ambulatory BP Option software is EHR-friendly; no printing or scanning, as data is already in the chart. Fax urgent referrals in no time directly from the system; the database stores thousands of test records. This eliminates the need to sort through lengthy paper reports or interpret hard-to-read faxed copies of test results, and makes information accessible virtually anywhere with access to a secure network.

Once a measurement is complete, it may be printed via the PC and printer of the user's choice. This eliminates the priciness and fading common in thermal paper. The physician may preview and format the report according to his or her preference before printing.

PC-Based Resting ECG Module

The use of typical printed ECGs can often lead to redundant work steps, transcription and other human errors, loss of data, and general waste of precious time. Welch Allyn’s PC-Based Resting ECG allows users to automatically transfer patient information and test data into most EHRs, resulting in clinicians spending less time documenting and more time with patients. The monitor eliminates the need for manual data entry, copying, scanning and shredding ECG reports, improves accuracy of ECG tests, allows for immediate access to patient diagnostic information, and increases the efficiency of every healthcare setting.

Acquisition module (CardioPerfect™ PRO ECG recorder)

The lightweight, handheld acquisition module connects to all electrodes and the PC. It is powered by a rechargeable battery pack (with charger cable) and includes a convenient belt clip to keep in securely in place during use. Its lead wires connect to sanitary disposable electrodes (included) with banana electrode adapters (included).

Measurement and display

The ECG takes automatic readings for immediate review and interpretation. Before recording, one may select from different chart speeds, different sensitivies, and three different trace views: 1x12, 2x6, and 4x3. One may choose to record a regular ECG, rhythm ECG, or pretriggered ECG, a shortened test designed to catch a specific event.

Reports display in real time on any PC, allowing the physician to preview live reports on screen before printing and interpret and edit reports for patients as young as one day. The ECG also features PerfectLink™ technology, a virtual channel SW that optimizes thin client networks.

Several warning indicators alert users to potential problems or interferences. The software displays a symbol when it detects pacemaker pulse spikes, and a signal quality indicator shows which specific lead requires attention, replacing, or adjusting. Filters, including a muscle noise filter, AC interference filter, baseline filter, and anti-aliasing ensure that the reading is accurate and easily readable.

PC-Based SpiroPerfect™ Spirometry Module

Spirometry provides a measure of lung function, specifically the amount and speed of air that can be inhaled and exhaled and generates pneumotachographs for diagnosis and assessment of conditions such as COPD, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, bronchitis, and shortness of breath. Welch Allyn's PC-Based SpiroPerfect™ Spirometry Module allows for fast and easy viewing, comparison, storage, and printing of pulmonary function tests. It aids in evaluation of pulmonary restriction or obstruction, shows progress in patients with a range of lung conditions, entices pediatric patients to cooperate, and helps with smoking cessation programs.

Measurement and display

The spirometer operates in several modes, customizable to each physician's and patient's individual needs. Patient data is entered directly into the PC for adjustment of readings accordingly and includes settings for asthmatics and smokers. One may select from three testing modes: FVC: Forced Vital Capacity; MVV: Maximum Voluntary Ventilation; and SVC: Slow Vital Capacity. Each effort may be further specified with pre or post bronchodilator tags; when recording a post-bronchodilator effort, the details of the medication administered may be entered as well for highly accurate analysis.

Once a patient has been entered into the database, it is simple to pull up his or her chart and previous tests for comparison, eliminating the need for paper charts, filing, and shredding. Test results and types are immediately viewable; the trending tool verifies and compares quality and variability of the current and previous tests. A snapshot of test results shows immediately, and customizable parameters (6 for real-time testing and summary, 19 for measurement table viewing, and single/multiple flow calibration protocols) make testing as accurate and easy to interpret as possible.

The software allows the user to choose from multiple predicted norms and report formats. It displays real time curves as Flow/Volume, Volume/Time, Flow/Time, or Pre/Post, and may be customized to show all efforts and/or best efforts on the same graph for clear comparison. Automatic interpretation calculates lung age, follows ATS Interpretative Strategies and test reproducibility criteria. The clear, understandable test results are an excellent tool in smoking cessation programs, as they show the patient's lung capacity improvement over time.

Pediatric use

Spirometry tests can be difficult for children. They often do not want to cooperate and/or are not motivated to perform properly. The SpiroPerfect™ module makes it easy and fun for children to take the test; an incentive graphic shows a child-friendly fireman attempting to extinguish a fire. Children are encouraged to "blow out the fire," which occurs when the patient's efforts reach 80% of predicted PEF and FVC values.

The module includes a sensor, pressure tubing, and eight hygienic disposable flow transducers.
