The Covidien Biosyn™ Monofilament Absorbable Sutures are sterile, synthetic sutures that are intended for use in wound healing and is ideal for general soft tissue approximation, subcuticular skin closure and/or ligation, including ophthalmic surgery.

Its tensile strength, knot security, and handling ease are needed especially during the the 3-week critical wound healing period. Biosyn™ synthetic sutures are made of Gylcomer™ 631, a synthetic polyester which is composed of glycolide (60%), dioxanone (14%), and trimethylene carbonate (26%). Gylcomer™ 631 has excellent properties and its advanced extrusion process is incorporated in each Biosyn™ Suture to provide strength, security, and minimal memory for superior performance. It features complete mass absorption in 90-110 days. Its durability and ease of use is further enhanced with its violet color that makes it visible and easy to work with. Its monofilament construction ensures smooth passage inside the tissue. Suture is Size 4-0 and measures 30 inches, with 1-Needle 17 mm 1/2 Circle CV 23 Taper Point Needle. Available in 3 dozen/box.
