A Holter test, also known as an ambulatory electrocardiograph, is a test used by physicians to acquire ECG rhythm abnormalities that do not occur only in office. The test is conducted with a wearable recorder and software to access and analyze the data at the end of the test period. The system is intended for monitoring and diagnosing coronary problems in patients with shortness of breath, chest pain, arrhythmias, palpitations, cardiac medication, pacemakers, and history of heart disease, among other conditions. Diagnostics leader Welch Allyn offers a variety of Holter recorders, software, and kits. Their two recorders, the HR-100 and HR-300, are compact, lightweight devices that include everything necessary for Holter data collection, including a carrying case and belt, cables, and removable SD card. They are equipped with several “smart” features such as pacer detection, real-time wireless data transfer and electrode quality verification via Bluetooth,  designated event buttons for flagging significant events, a clear LED screen, and (on the HR-300 only) remote initialization, elastomer keypad, and programmable sampling rates.

Both recorder models are compatible with Office and Expert analysis software to help streamline workflow, enhancing every practice's efficiency and EHR compatibility with detailed evaluations and fast, accurate data collection. The EHR-compatible software is user-friendly, with intuitive menus for simple test programming and several innovative features for full-featured, customizable analysis, storage, and printing. Expert software includes all of the features of Office software, with additional analysis and review capabilities, a full set of editing tools, and advanced filters, leads, and clinical limits, among other more sophisticated functions. Holter kits combine an HR-100 or HR-300 recorder with Office or Expert software (with optional printer and PC) into one convenient budget-friendly package.
